Lassen High’s Swim team may not exist this year as the Honey Lake Valley Recreational Authority board is set to decide on the pool’s shoulder season.
Due to increasing costs to operate the pool, it has been under consideration to close the pool a few months short this year, after the main summer season by August 1st. This would result in the high school not having a swim team, which was one of the major benefits touted to the community in advocating for the installation of the pool.
The Lassen Aquatics competitive swim team is urging the community to show their support at the meeting, calling on all swim team members and their families to come in full Volcano gear and spirit to show the board they want to swim into the fall and stating, “The future of our swim culture is at stake.”
The meeting will be held at 3 pm in City Hall, Tomorrow, June 20th.
