A hiker lost in the Modoc wilderness for two and a half days gets reunited with his family. Joe Kidd set out from Mill Creek Falls Campground to hike Eagle Peak for the day. Upon his return, he found himself lost. The following day a family member reported him missing to the Modoc County sheriff’s Office which dispatched officers on horseback and CHP Air Operations helicopters. On the next day pilots were directed to the area he was located by Deputy Joe Harris and other members of the Modoc County Sheriff’s Posse Search and Rescue teams after they were able to locate his tracks. Kidd was safely returned back to his family member who reported him missing. The family member following the incident wrote to the Sheriff’s Office in a heartfelt letter of her gratitude for their efforts in reuniting the two.
