A High-speed chase through Sierra Valley ends in an arrest in Downieville on Sunday.
A Reno woman had called in reporting spousal abuse by a Nathan Mckinney, and upon arriving at the scene, the officers found Mckinney attempting to flee. Mckinney then led the Reno Police Department on a high-speed chase into California, ultimately abandoning his vehicle and going on foot.
With the assistance of the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, authorities were able to track down and detain Mckinney.
The California Highway Patrol successfully disabled Mckinney’s vehicle, and he was later arrested in Downieville, California, on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, preventing a 911 call, false imprisonment, and domestic battery in Nevada. In addition to these charges, Mckinney also faces further charges in California for fleeing the scene.
The Reno Police Department expressed their gratitude to the Truckee PD, Sierra County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol for their assistance in the case.
