Halloween Candy Sales Stay Strong Despite Soaring Prices

Trick-or-treaters do not need to be frightened over the lack of candy when knocking on doors tonight as candy sales remain steady.

Despite double-digit inflation in candy prices, consumers are still buying the sweet treats at nearly the same levels as last year. One Industry expert says this year may be shaping up to be the biggest since 2018 in sales, yet others say that is due to the increased costs surging those sale numbers higher than previous years, while the volume of units sold has slightly decreased from last year.

High prices in the candy aisle have been contributed to spikes in raw ingredient costs due to a poor harvest of sugar and cocoa, accompanied by increased costs for fertilizers.

In efforts to combat the soaring cost of candy, consumer trend experts say many are turning towards cheaper varietals and mimic brands over household staples like Hershey’s and Reeses for this year’s handouts.

This Halloween, you can expect your trick-or-treater to once again bring home a good haul despite the looming recession.
