Burning in the Doublehead Ranger District, East of Glass Mountain, the Glass Fire has grown to nearly 8 acres. Orignially suspected to be at 20 acres, the size was downgraded as more accurate mapping was allowed. According to the National Forest Service, the fire is at 50% containment.

Multiple fire resources, including aircraft, crews, engines, and a CAL Fire dozer, are managing the fire and assisting with the suppression efforts. The fire has received retardant drops, there is a hose line around it, and the forward spread has been halted. Officials say crews will continue to strengthen and secure containment lines.

The fire was first reported at 1 pm on Monday, July 1st.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
