An Encampment along the Susan River is suspected to have sparked a blaze that threatened the Riverside Bridge. Early Monday morning, around 2:30 a.m. an urgent call reporting a vegetation fire came through.
Firefighters from Susanville Fire, Cal-fire, CDCR and Janesville Fire quickly responded and knocked down the flames, containing the fire to under 2 acres and averting potential disaster.
An in-depth investigation is currently underway to pinpoint the fire’s precise source, with initial suspicions pointing toward one of the nearby encampments.
Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, and LMUD were also on scene assisting with the incident.
