Do Not Drink the Water at Blue Lake Campgrounds Announces Modoc National Forest

The water is not safe to drink at Blue Lake Campground. An urgent boil water notice was announced by the Modoc National Forest until further notice.

If visiting the remote campsites, you are asked to Bring all water to a boil for at least one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. This water should be used for all drinking, ice making, teeth brushing, washing dishes, and any food prep.

The potential for bacteria in the water has been detected, and boiling will kill off any harmful strains.

The forest service says an update will be provided as soon as tests confirm the water is safe to return to drinking.
