Lassen County Of Educations’s very own Amber Akiwo helped make a meaningful day even more special by coordinating a trip for teachers from Westwood and Shaffer schools to attend Lassen Community College’s Asian Pacific Islander Luncheon—and they even connected with teachers from Herlong!
At the event, educators enjoyed delicious food, beautiful performances by English Learner students from Susanville School District and the talented Reno Tahiti Dancers, and even got to join in the dancing themselves!
For teachers far from home, moments like these matter deeply. Celebrating their culture and building connection within our community fosters a sense of belonging—and that’s exactly why Amber took the initiative to organize this special experience.
