County and City Seek Input on Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

Lassen County and the city of Susanville will update the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and seeks your input.

The Multi-Jurisdictional Plan was first adopted in 2011 and required an update every five years. The plan identifies natural disaster risks and vulnerabilities common to the area, develops long-term strategies for protecting people and property from these events, establishes edibility for seeking hazard mitigation assistance grants, and fulfills regulatory requirements as set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. A plan update requires opportunities for public comment, including at least two public meetings. Your feedback will be incorporated into the plan as part of this planning process. This can include….

• What natural hazards pose the most significant risk to your community?

• What concerns do you have, and what actions would help reduce damages of future hazard events in the community or county?

A public meeting will be held Thursday, June 29th, at 2 pm at Jensen Hall, where you can share your view. You can attend in person or virtually. More information can be found by emailing the Natural Resources Coordinator, Cortney Flather.
