The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) confirmed that a correctional officer from High Desert State Prison was arrested on December 9, 2024, while on duty at a Reno hospital. CDCR ensured the officer was removed from his post, secured his weapon, and assigned an additional officer to maintain security. The CDCR is conducting an internal investigation into the officer’s conduct. The officer was reportedly booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of possessing a gun while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and possessing 14 grams of drugs.
