The City of Susanville continues to wait to hear from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after extending an offer to meet following the ruling from Judge Moody to close the CA Correctional Center. The question remains if the department will answer that call at all. City Administrator Dan Newton says the city has concern for CCC staff and their families and the impact the closure will have on the economy of the city and they simply want some more information from the department to be able to mitigate impacts. These and many more questions lie unanswered, including what is to become of the vacant facility once staff has been phased out, and if the city will have any ability to have input. For now, Susanville waits to hear its fate.
