Chris Bielecki Takes the Helm as Forest Supervisor for Modoc National Forest

Chris Bielecki’s appointment as the new Forest Supervisor of the Modoc National Forest marks an exciting chapter for the forest and its community. With 25 years of experience with the Forest Service, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to the role. His extensive background in engineering, lands, minerals, and recreation, along with his involvement in wildfire and wild horse management, positions him well to lead the forest into the future.

Chris’s journey began in California, where he first joined the U.S. Forest Service working on the Sierra National Forest trail crew. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Humboldt State University and a Master of Forestry in Forest Engineering from Oregon State University. Throughout his career, Chris has been instrumental in major projects like the White Mountain Stewardship Project and the Quincy Library Group effort, showcasing his ability to manage large-scale vegetation and landscape initiatives.

His commitment to education is evident through his role in modernizing the Sale Area Layout & Harvesting Institute, which evolved into the Logging and Roads Institute, training over 1,000 forest operations specialists. Chris’s dedication extends to his personal life, where he, his wife Amy, and their pets enjoy the natural beauty surrounding their home near Alturas, California.

Chris’s enthusiasm for his new position is clear in his statement about collaborating with tribes, partners, local governments, and organizations. His leadership will undoubtedly foster strong partnerships and sustainable management practices within the Modoc National Forest.
