There will be two new additions to the century-old Chester 4th of July Parade this year with the help of the Susanville CHP Office.

The department, with the help from Commander Grimm, has recently acquired its own motorcycle fleet of two that will be accompanying parade-goers at the Chester 4th of July parade this weekend and will be seen at many other future community events.

Information Officer Bruce Tuelschesaign with the Susanville CHP office shares, though, that there’s more purpose for the bikes, adding they will assist officers with reducing fatalities on the roadways by enforcing stops on reckless and high-speed drivers.

Officer Wilder and Sgt. Studebaker, who teaches for the CHP’s Motorcycle Training Unit, will be seen riding the bikes throughout the CHP Susanville area coverage areas of Lassen, Plumas, and Tehama counties this summer. However, as the weather cools and snow and ice return to the roadways, as the CHP office says, the bikes will be “migrating to sunnier spots in California.”
