If you’re heading to the lake this week, the Lassen National Forest says you won’t be able to launch your boat at Canyon Dam.
The Boat Launch at Lake Almanor will be closed for important repairs beginning today through tomorrow, but will reopen by Friday just in time for your weekend plans. This temporary closure will allow the Almanor Ranger District to make needed repairs to the dock wheels.
Despite the boat launch closure, you will still be able to access the day-use parking area for hiking, picnicking, or shore fishing. You will see Signs posted.
Forest officials ask that you be cautious and avoid the boat launch area while crews work.
As an alternative boat launch, you can launch your boat into the water at Almanor North Campground, just about 7.5 miles from Canyon Dam.
