Caltrans says work to remove debris from the Highway 70 slide is underway. The most significant slide at post mile 15 has completely blocked the roadway from the consecutive storms that brought the hillside down starting in January. Crews are focusing on removing hazardous debris from the top of the slope before removing material from the roadway for the safety of the crews.
The closure on 70 between the Greenville Wye and Jarbo gap remains with no estimated time for the roadway to be reopened to one-way traffic control.
