CalTrans SR 70 Update – Slide Remains Active

State Route 70 remains closed between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye due to renewed activity at the slide area near the Butte/Plumas County line. The slide became active again during the early morning hours on Monday, December 13. More activity and debris fall was also noted Tuesday night.
Caltrans and the contractor are currently waiting for a break in the weather to perform additional geotechnical assessment and scaling of the slope. Following assessment and dependent on a clear weather work window, additional construction activities are anticipated including break-down of debris and debris removal.
While there is currently no estimated time for when the roadway will reopen, Caltrans and the contractor are working diligently towards reopening the roadway, permitting weather, worker safety, and further activity at the slide location.
