Caltrans aims to partially re-open travel through the Feather River Canyon HWY 70 slide by the July 4th holiday weekend. With popular crowd-bringing events to the area for the holiday festivities, heavy traffic is expected. Caltrans has been busy assessing the extent of cleanup and rehabilitation needed to get some travel through the area. Project Manager Mike Mogan says work will need to be done to not only the roadside but debris from the top of the hill will need to be removed, guardrails replaced, and drainage reconstructed, with work expected to not be completed until the end of summer.  The goal though is to have 24/7 traffic control through the 50-mile stretch impacted by those 5 slides closing hwy 70 from June 12th, by July 4th.
