Thursday morning, chaos erupted at the Chevron Gas Station on Main street as a potential armed robbery unfolded. Just after 9am the Susanville Police Department received an urgent call reporting the possible armed robbery in progress. Officers were informed that the suspect was armed with a firearm, heightening the already tense situation.
Within minutes officers arrived, finding that the owner of the Chevron Gas Station, displaying immense courage and quick thinking, had taken matters into his own hands. He had managed to overpower the armed suspect, successfully pinning him down until the authorities arrived. The owner’s selfless actions not only protected his business but potentially saved lives.
The Chevron Gas Station owner, unavailable for comment, wasted no time in notifying the officers that the firearm was still within reach of the subdued suspect.
Through teamwork, the officers swiftly and safely disarmed the suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Bluestar Maudie Sue Hefner.
With the threat neutralized, Hefner was promptly placed under arrest, The quick response and efficient coordination of law enforcement prevented any harm or injuries to those involved.
During the following investigation, authorities uncovered Hefner had brandished a Sig Sauer Pistol, menacingly demanding money from the Chevron clerk. However, the store’s vigilant owner caught sight of the unfolding crime. Seizing the opportunity, he stealthily approached the suspect from behind, swiftly overcoming and restraining him until help arrived.
Thanks to the decisive actions of the Chevron employees, who promptly alerted emergency services, and the bravery of a witness inside the store who called 9-1-1, officers could reach the scene in record time—and ensured a swift resolution to the dangerous situation.
Bluestarr Maudie Sue Hefner now faces charges of Attempted Robbery and Resisting Arrest. The Lassen County District Attorney’s Office will oversee the prosecution, bringing Hefner to justice for his alleged crimes.
