After nearly three weeks of intense firefighting efforts, the Bear Fire, which ignited near the Bear Valley area and threatened the communities of Sierra Brooks and Loyalton, is now fully contained. The blaze, which scorched 3,323 acres, had residents on edge as it spread rapidly through dry brush and forested terrain.
Tahoe National Forest authorities report that crews, along with resource advisors, will continue to monitor the area and conduct suppression repair activities to prevent erosion and other post-fire hazards. While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials are urging the public to stay vigilant as fire season continues.
