PG&E Flying Helicopters to Remove Poles, Power Lines in Feather River Canyon

Over 100 power poles will be removed by helicopter this week in the Feather River Canyon. You will notice the low-flying helicopter between PG&Es Cresta Dam and Bucks Creek Power House. PG&E says due to the feather river canyon steep terrain, the use of helicopters is the best method to remove the poles and wires.

The removal of the utility poles and power lines stems from the recent undergrounding of lines the company has just announced. The company aims to underground a near 10,000 miles throughout Western Plumas County by the end of the year.

While this work is ongoing, a generator will supply your power.

You can expect to see the helicopters from Tuesday to Friday of each week between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., until about mid to late September.
