Smoke filled the skies in Susanville yesterday afternoon when a brush fire sparked on the Old Mill site. Susanville Fire Department has not reported what started the fire but said it was contained to just over one acre. Crews remained on scene throughout the afternoon to mop up and monitor the burn. High winds that afternoon had raised concerns as gusts topped 30 mph.
