The Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority (HLVRA) pool, a cornerstone of recreation in Susanville, is grappling with financial challenges as inflation and rising minimum wages take their toll. These economic pressures have significantly impacted the facility’s ability to maintain operations and serve the community, leaving the pool in urgent need of increased support.
During this Wednesday’s City Council meeting, the council will discuss a letter submitted to the city with a request for additional funding to help offset these fiscal challenges. Historically reliant on contributions from the City and Lassen County, the HLVRA has faced growing difficulties in managing costs over the past few years. These struggles, according to a letter approved by the HLVRA Board, threaten the pool’s ability to provide recreational services and adequately maintain the facility.
