Miracle March Predicted as Forecasters Urge Preparation for Blizzard Conditions

Whether you believe it or not, forecasters suggest that the upcoming weekend’s storm could bring snow down to 2000 feet, potentially bringing several feet of snow to the mountains and blizzard conditions. The National Weather Service advises that now is the opportune time to prepare, as they express growing confidence in the setup of the next system, anticipating a Miracle March.

The snow is expected to arrive Thursday for higher elevations above 5000 feet. However, weather models show a blast of cold air hitting the region Friday, dropping temperatures and snow levels to all valley floors.

Forecasters caution that the anticipated significant snowfall, paired with high winds, carries the risk of prolonged periods of near-zero visibility. The blowing and drifting snow could bury vehicles and make locating roads challenging. For those in the storm’s path during the high winds Thursday into Friday, even walking outside is strongly discouraged as individuals could quickly become lost or disoriented.

Following the departure of this system by Sunday, a few dry and cold days are expected. However, predictions indicate another storm is on the horizon, likely arriving by the middle of next week.
