Gas prices yet again touch the 6-dollar mark, and it’s not unique to Lassen County. It’s across the board throughout California. In the sharpest increase in 7 years, AAA says overnight gas prices spiked, with the average costs across the state sitting at 6.04 cents while the national gas average remains at 3.77 cents. The travel agency, along with other analysts, contributes the jump in your price at the pump to some planned and unplanned oil refinery maintenance work in Washington and California. That work has slowed production and cannot keep up with demand. Experts say Californians will have to wait out the spike and suggest shopping around to save at the pump, yet options remain limited in rural California.
