School is back in session this week in Lassen County with over 900 students returning to Lassen High and that means a return back to normal, we’re not just talking about starting the School year without strict COVID rules but rather regular school hours. That’s despite Senate Bill 328. The bill was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom in October of 2019 to go into effect this school year where schools are required to start no earlier than 8 pm and high schools no earlier than 8:30. Yet Lassen High Principal and Superintendent Morgan Nugent says the District has been designated as being in a rural county holding the school exempt. This Wednesday high schoolers are back in class at 8 am and the high school will be welcoming their new students and freshman with a back-to-school open house today at 5 pm. Schedules will be handed out and your new student can get a tour of the campus by ASB leaders followed by a bbq hot dog dinner at the Student Center on campus.
