The Plumas National Forest will be closing a forest service road for repairs following damage from the lightning-caused North Complex Fire 2 years ago that burned over 300,000 acres of the national forest. Hartman Bar road will be closed through November between Cascade Creek road and Milsap Bar road. There are critical repairs needed as the road has hazardous conditions with limited visibility and narrow passage with no safe turn-around. Crews will be working on repairing road damage, removing hazard trees, widening the road, repairing slides, and replacing retaining walls. You will start to see equipment moved to a staging area along the road and signage of the closure. Additionally, recreation sites, including campgrounds, trailheads, and trails along that portion of Forest Road are also currently closed for repairs due to damage from the North Complex Fire. This includes South Branch, Hanson Bar, South Hartman Bar, and Hartman Bar Campgrounds, trailheads, and trails.
