Solar-powered homes in Lassen County may see a break in their bill as Lassen Municipal Utilities looks to increase the payout rate for excess energy the home may generate. Under the LMUDs customer solar generation program any excess energy your home produces goes directly back onto the LMUD grid and you currently get 4 and a half cents for every kilowatt-hour paid back to you on your bill. The proposed increase would jump by one cent, to where if you generate over 100 kilowatt-hours you would receive a credit on your monthly bill of 5 and a half dollars. The power company will hold a public hearing to determine if the increase will take effect.
