Shifting weather caused Plumas National Forest Moonlight Reforestation Prescribed burn to reactivate. Saturday as winds picked up the burn that was completed on the 21st of the month grew to 25 acres. Forest Service fire crews immediately responded and CALFire units and Firestorm units based out of Chico, arrived to assist over the weekend. By Sunday the fire grew to 42 acres. Hose and Dozer lines have been established. The fire has remained within the project area for the Moonlight Fire Restoration Plan and is not considered an escaped burn. The pile burn project began on March 17th near Antelope Lake in efforts to reduce fuels on more than 1000 acres to prepare for the reforestation of the Moonlight Fire burn scar. Patrols monitored the area with daily patrols and infrared monitoring that helped with spotting the reactivation over the weekend.
