Your schoolchildren can ditch the mask in two weeks. In a joint statement with the governors of Oregon and Washington, California Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a new mask guidance to make face coverings a recommendation rather than a requirement. The mask lift is effective tomorrow at most indoor places throughout the state, and starting March12th Students can walk into their classrooms maskless for the first time in 2 years regardless of vaccination status. Federal mask requirements will remain effective in high-risk indoor settings such as public transportation and airports. Rules for other high-risk indoor settings could also vary. Across the state and country, public health orders have waned as states shift to an endemic phase response to the COVID 19 virus and return to normalcy.
