You can expect to see smoke around Fall River Mills and Alturas as prescribed burn projects begin. Bureau of Land Management’s Applegate Field Office will be completing prescribed burning projects in northeast California and northwest Nevada, as fall, winter and spring weather conditions allow. Dereck Wilson, manager of the BLM northern California District said these burns are designed to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires that could damage natural resources and communities. The burns will mainly consist of nearly 6000 acres of piled juniper and 400 acres of woodlands.
