The Litchfield Wild horse and burro corrals close due to widespread bacterial infection among several of the horses. Pending lab results the horses gathered from the northwest Nevada public lands in the Surprise Complex wild horse and burro gather seem to be infected with pigeon fever. The affected horses have been quarantined and the Bureau of land management will have the corrals closed to the public until further notice. The BLM is using extreme caution to prevent the spread of the disease to any visitors’ personal horses and will have no movement of any horse until more is known.
