Feather River College (FRC) released updates from Kevin Trutna, President, in a Report to the Board of Trustees, showcasing student-athlete achievements, national coaching honors, and broad statewide reach from its recent graduating class.

The report underscores high academic standards across FRC Athletics. The Golden Eagles softball team led the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) state association with 22 student-athletes designated as Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes, each maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Additionally, both the court volleyball and beach volleyball programs earned national team academic recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

On the coaching front, Assistant Softball Coach Marco Aragon was named National Assistant Coach of the Year following the Golden Eagles’ sixth Golden Valley Conference championship title.

Beyond athletics, FRC celebrated significant milestones from its 56th Commencement, conferring 276 Associate degrees, 219 professional certificates, and 22 Bachelor’s degrees across its specialized Equine and Ranch Management and Ecosystem Restoration and Applied Fire Management programs. The graduating class represented 198 California communities, 13 U.S. states, and 8 international countries, including Australia, Canada, Japan, and the Netherlands.

“These results reflect the dedication of our students, faculty, and coaching staff,” the report noted, reinforcing FRC’s role as an educational and economic resource for Plumas County and northern California.
