The Taylorsville Ladies Aide Society invites everyone to get their running or walking shoes for the Almost 5K Fun Run/Walk set for Saturday, June 13, along the loop route in Taylorsville.
Organizers invite community members to join them as they run or walk the loop, starting and ending at the Taylorsville Park picnic area. On-site registration begins at 7 a.m. and the event starts at 8. Participation costs $20 for individuals and $30 for families.
The event is “a great excuse to get outside, get moving and support a good local cause,” say organizers. They are also seeking volunteers for the run/walk.
The event benefits the Taylorsville Ladies Aide Society, which raises funds through a variety of events to help support Indian Valley nonprofits, organizations and families in need. In the past, TLAS has awarded scholarships to local high school graduates, helped restore the Taylorsville Community Methodist Church, supported the Indian Valley Food Pantry and helped Indian Valley individuals whose homes were destroyed by fire.
The loop offers runners and walkers a treat, say organizers. The route includes views of Mount Hough, Mount Jura and Grizzly Peak; scenes of cattle grazing in Indian Valley; a chance to stop at the bridge and watch the creek flow by; and a visit to the picturesque town of Taylorsville.
