A tax assessment ballot measure passed by just two votes in Whitehawk Ranch’s special election on April 14.
The measure increases parcel taxes by 37 percent to fund maintenance, repairs, operations, and upgrades for the Whitehawk Ranch Community Services District’s properties and services.
Out of 111 ballots mailed, 57 were returned, giving a voting participation rate just over 50 percent.
Measure A received 40 yes votes and 17 no votes. It needed a two-thirds majority, or 38 yes votes, to pass. It exceeded that threshold by only two votes.
The district’s board of directors thanked the community for voting and supporting the measure.
They said the increase will appear on the December 2026 property tax bill and will help cover rising costs of maintaining shared amenities. The plan also aims to rebuild reserve funds gradually.
The funds will support upkeep and improvements for the community center, pool, trails, courts, and open spaces. The board emphasized that the measure will keep these amenities safe and functional, while also protecting property values over time.
How will you see the impact of this tax increase in your community? Will it encourage more residents to get involved in local decisions?
