A bombshell investigation published last week by the Manhattan Institute’s City Journal has confirmed that under Governor Gavin Newsom, state taxpayers are footing the bill for breast implants, cross-sex hormones, and genital surgeries for illegal immigrants housed in San Francisco’s taxpayer-funded homeless shelters.

Journalists Christopher Rufo and Jonathan Choe went inside three publicly funded San Francisco homeless shelters and interviewed illegal immigrants who openly admitted they had traveled to California specifically to obtain free “gender-affirming care” through Medi-Cal.
One illegal immigrant from Honduras admitted on the record to receiving breast implants and cross-sex hormones paid for by the state.
These are the priorities of Gavin Newsom and Sacramento Democrats: while California families are being crushed by the highest cost of living in the nation, the Governor is funding sex-change surgeries for people who are in this country illegally.
“California is facing a multi-billion deficit. Governor Newsom has proposed cuts to critical services,” said Assemblymember Alexandra Macedo. “Precious tax dollars must be spent on curbing the skyrocketing cost of living, the high gas tax and the life-saving programs for our most vulnerable residents.”
Californians deserve a government that fights for them, not one that is so out of touch with the priorities of what real people need.
