Mount Hough Ranger District responded to the North Fire located on North Valley Road east of Stamfli Road.
The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m., burning in grass and oak woodland. It is approximately 1.1 acres, fully contained and will be in patrol status by tonight.
Firefighters are continuing to work on control of the fire and are partially blocking North Valley Road near the fire. Residents and visitors are asked to slow down and use caution driving in the area.
Firefighting resources responding included Indian Valley Fire & Rescue, 2 engines from the Forest Service and the Plumas Hotshots. Thanks to all the firefighters who got the fire contained quickly this evening!
The cause of the North Fire was an escaped burn pile, with growth driven by breezy conditions this afternoon and evening. Area residents are reminded to use caution when burning, avoid igniting piles when conditions are predicted to be windy, keep water on hand and monitor the burning piles closely.
Fuel reduction work is important while there is a window and conditions allow, but it’s critical to use care and avoid it becoming a wildfire.
