Feather River College Extends Winning Streak with Dominant Doubleheader Over College of the Siskiyous

After a walk-off win on Friday, Feather River College won two more less dramatic games on Saturday at home against the College of the Siskiyous.

The Golden Eagles took a pair from the Eagles 18-1 and 15-10 at the Eagles Nest to win their 11th and 12th straight games of the season. That moved FRC’s record to 16-6 on the season and to 8-0 in the Golden Valley Conference. Siskiyous dropped to 6-15 on the season and to 0-7 in league play.

The home team equaled a season high with 18 hits in the first game and had 14 in the second for 32 base knocks on the day. They put the opener away early with five runs in the first, three in the second and they had eight plate crossings in the third.

In that fateful third stanza, FRC send 12 batters to the plate and scored eigth times on just four hits. The biggest blow was Nick Anderson‘s two-run double.

Six players had multiple hits in the game–Anderson, Legend LancasterJackson Phillips, Danny Hurlbut, Kory Chu and Josh Davies. Anderson drove in three runs, Phillips scored three times and had two doubles, Chu had three RBI and Carter Reilly had a home run.

On the mound, Jack Hanna pitched five innings to pick up the win, scattering three hits with two walks, no runs and four strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Feather River built a 9-1 lead through four innings, but the Eagles came back with six runs in the top of the fifth to make it tighter. FRC got a run back in the sixth and then broke the game open in the seventh with five runs.

Chu had four hits and scored four times in these games. Phillips had a double and a home run and drove in three, and Luke Henderson had two hits and two RBI. Isaiah Mezger had two singles and drove in three runs. For the day, Phillips scored seven times, had three doubles, and drove in five.

Kani Thomas got the win in relief with three productive innings, allowing just one run and two hits. Steve Cherry closed things out with two scoreless innings.

Feather River hosts Lassen next Friday at 2 pm and will circle back to Lassen’s home on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
