The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is lifting its seasonal fire restrictions for public lands across Northern California and Northwest Nevada.
The change took effect on Tuesday for the Arcata, Eagle Lake, and Applegate field offices, and will be effective on October 6 for the Redding Field Office.
Visitors can now engage in activities like campfires outside designated recreation sites. However, a valid California Campfire Permit is still required for campfires and portable stoves. Permits are available online or at any BLM, Forest Service, or Cal Fire office.
Restrictions on the use of internal combustion engines off roads and on recreational target shooting have also been lifted.
“With recent cooler temperatures and increased moisture, fire danger has decreased significantly across our management areas,” said Dereck Wilson, manager of the BLM Northern California District. “However, visitors should remain vigilant and exercise caution when using fire outdoors.”
Despite the lifted restrictions, the year-round statewide fire prevention order remains in effect for BLM-managed public lands. Termination details of the Fire Prevention Orders can be reviewed online for the respective field offices.
