The Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE) is
proud to announce the launch of its new LCOE Wellness Center website, an online hub designed
to provide students, families, and educators with accessible, supportive mental health resources.
The launch comes at a pivotal time as September marks Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a
national movement to raise awareness, promote healing, and offer support to those affected by
suicide.

This user-friendly website is a central resource for promoting well-being, resilience, and early
intervention across Lassen County schools. It offers valuable tools for students and families to
navigate mental health needs, connect with support services, and access practical strategies for
self-care and emotional regulation.
“The Wellness Center is part of our continued commitment to ensuring that every student feels
seen, heard, and supported,” said Amber Akiwo, a member of LCOE’s Mental Health &
Wellness team. “We know that mental health is foundational to learning and success and this site
helps bring that support directly to our school communities.”
Key Features of the Wellness Center Website:
• 24/7 access to mental health and wellness resources
• Links to local and national crisis support services
• Tips on coping strategies, mindfulness, self-care, and emotional regulation
• Specialized sections for students, families, and educators
• Suicide prevention education and tools for recognizing warning signs
As schools across the county settle into the new academic year, the launch of this resource
reinforces LCOE’s focus on safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. The Wellness
Center is a natural extension of the ongoing work being done by LCOE departments, including
the SAFE Communities of Practice, Community Schools, and Mental Health Teams, to build a
culture of care and connection.
A Call to Connect
During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, LCOE encourages everyone to take a moment to
check in with themselves and those around them. Whether you’re a student, educator, parent, or
community member — you’re not alone, and help is always available.
