Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Alturas, T.E.A.C.H., Inc. is Modoc County’s only diverse, multi-program nonprofit organization, dedicated to empowering individuals and families through a wide range of vital services. From subsidized child care and foster family support to senior nutrition, domestic violence advocacy, and housing assistance, T.E.A.C.H., Inc. is a cornerstone of support for some of the most underserved communities in rural Northern California.
“ T.E.A.C.H., Inc. is a lifeline for so many across Modoc County,” said Assemblywoman Hadwick. “Their work reflects the best of rural resilience—meeting people where they are and helping them thrive. And this recognition is a chance for rural voices to be heard at the capitol.”
On May 21, Carol Madison, Executive Director at T.E.A.C.H., Inc., joined Assemblywoman Hadwick and other nonprofit leaders from across California for a special luncheon at the State Capitol, hosted by CalNonprofits in partnership with the State Assembly and Senate Select Committees on the Nonprofit Sector.
California Nonprofit of the Year honors are awarded annually by each state legislator to highlight the vital role nonprofits play in serving local communities. Since its inception, the program has recognized over 1,000 organizations for their impact across diverse regions of the state.
