On April 5, 2025, at around 2:00 PM, California Highway Patrol’s H-20, was called by the Amador County Fire Department to help with a snowmobile accident near Mud Lake, outside Kirkwood, CA. H-20 took off from Auburn and reached the area in 30 minutes. After a short aerial search, they found the injured person on a snowy ridge. Due to the challenging terrain and snow, H-20 landed nearby to safely reach the patient. The crew provided medical care, including spinal immobilization, an IV, and pain relief, before transferring the patient into the helicopter with help from bystanders. The patient was then flown to Sutter Roseville Trauma Center for further treatment.
