Busy summer travel is expected to continue as the Reno Tahoe International Airport says it has seen the most passengers pass through this year than over the last 15 years.
Airport officials say In the first six months, the Airport served over 2 million passengers, an increase of about 3.5% compared to the same period in 2019.
Carol Chaplin, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) Board of Trustees Chair, says the “airport has shown tremendous resilience over the last few years and is an accomplishment to celebrate.”
The upward trend in passenger traffic is expected to continue into the summer, with popular seasonal nonstop destinations back at RNO, including routes to and from New York, Minneapolis, and Chicago.
Additionally, the return of the Burning Man Festival is sure to bring scores of passengers through the Airport between August 24 and September 5.
The Airport’s latest project, the MoreRNO infrastructure program, a 500 million dollar investment, will further support these growing numbers as the plan includes building two new concourses.
If making late summer travel plans, don’t expect lines to be short; plan ahead and give yourself extra time as flyers continue to flock to the airport and ongoing construction brings slight delays.
