The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge is now open in Lassen County.

Kids can pick up a free book at several locations across the county and read throughout the summer. When they finish a book, they can return to get another one.

This year’s book selection covers a range of genres. You’ll find adventures, mysteries, memoirs, and more, ensuring there is a title for every reader.

Free books are available at Lassen Family Services, Public Health, Highway to Gaming Zone, Buffalo Chips, Janesville Pizza Factory, Premier Mortgage Resources, and the Lassen County Office of Education.
