Sept. 20 Wild Horse Gather update
Alturas, Calif., Sept. 20, 2021— After moving the trap to the new location north of Big Sage Reservoir, 42 horses were gathered on Saturday. Rain and wind caused operations to be suspended on Sunday, so 49 horses have been gathered so far. This includes 22 studs, 21 mares and six foals.
Corral staff will allow themselves and the horses more time this year before they begin placement activities. Virtual and in-person placement events are planned to begin in January 2022. Pictures and videos will be shared as soon as possible; please be patient.
