SEASONAL REST AREA CLOSURES: Beginning on Monday, November 1, the following District 2 Rest Areas will be closed for the winter season. The anticipated reopening date for these rest areas is May 1, 2022.
These five facilities are closed seasonally to allow our maintenance crews to focus their time and efforts on the roadways during the winter months.
*Please note, the Hillcrest and Shingletown Rest Areas are currently closed due to a groundwater well pump replacement project. These rest areas will remain closed through the winter.*
Hillcrest Rest Area, located on State Route 299, 4 miles east of Montgomery Creek.
Massack Rest Area, located on State Route 70, 6.5 miles east of Quincy.
Lester T. Davis Rest Area, located on State Route 70, 3 miles east of Portola.
Shingletown Rest Area, located on State Route 44, 3 miles east of Shingletown.
Lake Almanor Rest Area, located on State Route 36, 4.3 miles east of Chester.
