SHARE NOW

Starting after Memorial Day weekend, major bridge joint seal work will begin on Interstate 5 at the Cottonwood Creek Bridge near the Shasta/Tehama County line.

Drivers will face long-term lane closures and heavy traffic backups. Expect extended delays during daytime hours on Saturdays.

No alternate highway routes are available in this area, so plan your travel accordingly.

Work will happen each weekend from Friday at 10 p.m. through Sunday at 6 a.m. The schedule includes lane closures on specific dates: May 29-31, June 5-7, June 12-14, and June 19-21. A contingency weekend on June 26-28 is set aside for any unfinished work.

Intermittent ramp closures will affect the Gas Point southbound on-ramp and the Bowman northbound on-ramp.

To avoid long delays, travel overnight when traffic is lighter. Avoid passing through the area during Saturday daytime hours if possible.
