Today, the House Natural Resources Committee passed Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s bill, H.R. 1110, the Grazing for Wildfire Risk Reduction Act, out of markup.
This legislation requires the Secretary of Agriculture to develop and implement a strategy to increase opportunities to utilize livestock grazing as a means of wildfire reduction.
“By utilizing grazing as a tool for wildfire risk reduction, we can make our forests healthier and more resilient,” LaMalfa said. “This bill will provide a strategic, no-nonsense approach to addressing the threat of wildfires while supporting local ranchers and improving forest management. I am happy to see this legislation move through the Natural Resources Committee with unanimous support.”
