The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that the dates of September 21 and 22 have been designated as youth waterfowl hunt days in the Northeastern California Zone, including Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, and Siskiyou counties. This special event aims to encourage young hunters and foster a connection with wildlife and conservation efforts.

To participate, hunters must be 17 years of age or younger and must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult who is 18 years of age or older. This requirement ensures safety and supervision during the hunt.

The youth hunt days offer a unique opportunity for young enthusiasts to experience waterfowl hunting under the guidance of experienced adults, allowing them to develop their skills and understanding of responsible hunting practices.

More details on the event and general waterfowl hunting guidelines can be found on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s official website at wildlife.ca.gov/hunting/waterfowl.

This initiative by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife highlights the importance of involving youth in outdoor activities and conservation efforts, ensuring that these traditions continue to be passed down through generations.
