California has opened a new funding opportunity for wildfire and landscape resilience projects.
Up to $30 million is available through the Regional Wildfire and Landscape Resilience Grant Program.
The program focuses on supporting regional partnerships that address wildfire risks and improve landscape health.
Projects must come from regional groups using data and community input to set priorities.
Funding aims to strengthen local capacity and tailor strategies to each region’s unique needs.
Grant applications will prioritize projects that combine multiple funding sources and involve broad stakeholder participation, including tribal groups.
Eligible projects can include hazardous fuels reduction, prescribed fire, pest management, reforestation, biomass use, and workforce training.
The application process has two phases. Concept proposals are due by June 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. PDT.
Selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals.
You can find more information and register for a virtual workshop on the program’s webpage.
Questions should be sent to [email protected].
How could your community participate in shaping wildfire resilience efforts? What partnerships could you build to strengthen local preparedness?
