Feather River College Athletics named sophomore middle blocker Shelby Nussle as one of the first California Community College Athletic Association Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association state players of the week for the 2026 season.
Nussle, a 6-foot-1 Quincy Junior-Senior High School graduate, stood out as the Golden Eagles opened their season with four straight wins on August 27 and 28. Coaches praised her strong performance.
She recorded 35 kills and eight blocks across those four matches. Nussle attacked with a .611 hitting percentage, making only two errors in 54 total attempts during Feather River’s undefeated weekend.
Her top performance came in a four-set victory over American River College, where she tallied 14 kills and four blocks.
Nussle’s efforts helped Feather River defeat Modesto Junior College, American River, Hartnell College, and College of the Sequoias. The Golden Eagles improved to 4-0 and kept the No. 1 spot in the August 31 3C2AWVCA state Top 25 rankings.
She earned this statewide recognition alongside Fresno City College outside hitter Kalani Soares and Santa Monica College outside hitter Quinci Wilder.
Nussle, wearing No. 18, is a local player in her sophomore season with the Golden Eagles.
